After  upgrading  I  get  the  error

There  seems  to  be  a  problem  with  the  MySQL  server,  sorry  for  the  inconvenience.

 We  should  be  back  shortly.

I  ran  a  recent  backup  and  still  have  no  site.  Any  help?

I  looked  in  my  files  through  the  c-panel  and  under  error_log  found  this  one  was  repeated  over  and  over.  Not  sure  if  that's  what  you  wanted  though.

Have  had  the  error  for  awhile...doesn't  seem  that  would  keep  my  site  from  loading.

No  thats  no  help,  go  back  and  look,  there  are  3  files  that  need  to  be  edited.  Double  check  those  to  make  sure  they  are  done  correct. If  the  edits  are  done,  then  Im  not  real  sure.  You  make  need  to  refer  to  ur  backup  and  try  again

Ok  the  download  has  a  readme.md  file  that  does  not  have  any  edits  in  it.  So  I  have  not  done  any,  this  I  assume  is   the  problem.  Where  can  I  get  those  edits?  I  downloaded  it  again  and  the  readme  file  again  has  no  edits.

The  ZIP  you  downloaded  was  the  entire  2.0.9d  source  NOT  the  patches,  you  can  find  the  patches  here  so  what  you  need  to  do  is  restore  your  install  then  run  the  patches.

By  restoring  your  install  do  you  mean  with  a  backup  from  c-panel?  Because  that  does  not  seem  to  be  working.

check  your  config.php  file  to  see  if  you  copied  over  it  with  the  updated  files

Well  with  my  backups  not  working  I  guess  the  next  question  is  what  do  I  do  now?  It  seems  my  most  recent  mysql  db  is  intact  so  do  I  do  an  install  of  the  latest  version?  I'm  not  sure  how  that  all  works  together.

I  guess  I  will  have  to  do  a  new  full  install.  Can  I  use  the  full  version  of  2.0.9d  for  that?  Or  do  I  have  to  use  2.0.9  and  use  the  upgrades  to  get  to  the  d  version?

There  is  no  need  to  re-install  if  your  database  is  intact,  all  you  need  to  do  is  ensure  the  database  values  in  your  config.php  file  are  correct  otherwise  all  you  need  to  do  is  update  them  if  there  not.

I  have  checked  and  rechecked  the  values  and  still  have  the  same  problem.  By  using  the  full  install  files  I'm  sure  I  have  overwritten  something  somewhere  and  the  backups  of  my  db  and  main  directory  are  not  working.  So  again  the  question  is  can  I  use  the  full  version  of  2.0.9d  or  do  I  have  to  go  from  2.0.9  and  then  do  the  updates?  At  this  point  I  need  to  get  things  running  as  I  am  getting  some  ugly  emails  from  users.

Again  no  you  don't  as  if  you  have  a  working  database  your  config.php  file  just  needs  to  be  fixed  in  order  for  the  site  to  work,  if  you  would  like  PM  me  your  cPanel  login  and  I'll  take  a  look  for  you.
